Some of the earliest history we can find, in the company archives points to sales that were made to both sides of the American Civil War. It would appear that both the Confederate and Unionist sides chose to have there buttons from James Grove & Sons Ltd. In the early 1900`s, James Grove travelled across Europe selling Horn Buttons from his hotel room, customers would have to come and see him there! If he felt the order was not big enough it was discarded in the waste paper bin! |

The factory, at Bloomfield, has been here since around 1857. There is no evidence to suggest that the company has ever moved since production began over 130 years ago. |
