Real
Horn
This is a natural product
and we recommend that buttons are sewn to
garments as a final process after steam
pressing. Ideally they
should be removed, or at least protected during
dry cleaning, but experience shows that milder
dry cleaning processes have little or no
effect. We do not
recommend washing garments with horn buttons.
Real
Leather
As leather is a natural
material, these buttons should not be subjected
to heat, pressure or
moisture.
We recommend, therefore, that they are
removed from garments before washing, dry
cleaning or steam pressing. Real
leather buttons will absorb water and
lose shape if washed. They
may also lose
colour.
Real
Pearl
As real pearl is a
natural material these buttons should not be
subjected to heat, pressure or
moisture. We recommend
that they be removed from garments before
washing, dry cleaning or steam
pressing. If garments
using real pearl buttons are washed, the water
should be below 40oC as they may
lose colour.
Real
Corozo
These buttons are a
natural product made from slices of nut and
should not be immersed in water or subjected to
heat or pressure as they will lose
shape. All colours
are achieved by dyeing and can be discoloured
by washing. Therefore,
only a mild dry cleaning is
recommended.
Real
Wood
These buttons and toggles
will absorb water so do not wash or steam
press. Mild dry
clean only.
2 Part Metal /
Polyester or Horn Buttons also with Glued
Shanks
It is strongly
recommended that buttons with glued parts are
removed before washing or dry
cleaning.
Metal and ABS
Plated
Nylon
Do not wash or steam
press at temperatures above 40oC to
ensure that the surface plating is not
removed. Mild dry
cleaning is safer than
washing.
Polyester and
Nylon
Solid colours can be
washed or dry cleaned safely, but great care
should be taken when selecting dyed buttons for
use on garments, as we cannot guarantee colour
fastness during dry cleaning or
pressing.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DYED BUTTONS SEWN
ON TO CONTRASTING FABRIC MAY MARK
OFF.
